How the procedure works

The treatment plan depends on room size and layout, the materials present, and the odor or contamination being addressed.

  1. Assessment and preparation: Specialists inspect the property, assess room size and volume, and determine the treatment requirements.
  2. Evacuation: All people and pets must leave the treated areas, and indoor plants should be removed before treatment begins.
  3. Ozone generation: A generator produces ozone for a controlled period, typically 30 minutes to several hours depending on the space and issue. Ozone can reach upholstery, curtains, mattresses and ventilation systems.
  4. Ventilation and decomposition: After the cycle, the property is thoroughly ventilated. Occupants should return only once it has been adequately ventilated and confirmed safe for re-entry.

Applications in residential properties

  • Odor neutralization: May help address smoke, damp or musty odors, pet odors, cooking smells, and smells associated with renovation or painting.
  • Air and surface treatment: May be considered for certain microorganisms and mold spores where additional treatment is required.
  • Post-renovation: Can form part of cleaning after renovation, painting or other work that leaves persistent odors.
  • Before occupancy: May be used after a property has been vacant for an extended period or before new residents or guests arrive.
  • Additional treatment: Can be part of broader cleaning and property maintenance where odor control or microbial reduction is required.
